True Blood Season Four: Let’s Get Out of Here

With hopes high, we tuned in for this week’s True Blood HBO vampire series. To say that this season has been rocky going, at least for this fan, is putting it mildly. There are very few episodes this year that have left me wanting more, and this week unfortunately was not an exception. This story line is dragging out, with very little of what it is that made True Blood HBO great. Not only are we trudging through quicksand we also have to deal with inconsequential ghost story lines! Did no one think that they should tie Mavis’s character to a current Bon Temps resident? She simply picked Arlene’s baby out of the crowd? Recap of episode 9 of True Blood HBO, Let’s Get Out of Here:
Sam, Tommy and Luna
Even though Sam has yet again thrown Tommy out of his life, the little pup keeps coming back! In truth, it is a little bizarre; he obviously does not care about Sam so why he keeps hanging around is a mystery. Tommy shows up at the bar to leave Sam a note, presumably, before he leaves town, and runs into the pack master from Shreveport. Marcus leaves his own dire message, tell Sam to come to the shop for a discussion. What does smart one do? Skinwalks as Sam to go meet the were’s! Needless to say, his smart mouth and attitude get the fire beat out of him, which promptly turns him back to his true self.
Jessica
A character that has had so much promise in seasons past is floundering. Jessica is upset and crying to Nan Flannigan about her treatment at the hands of Hoyt and Jason. Whining and crying that was a bit overdone! Where is the young, sexy but a tad bit willful and clueless Jessica the fans have come to love? Apparently beginning a relationship with Jason Stackhouse! Yep, Jason delivers a box of her things from Hoyt, only to end up in the back of his truck with her having a rocking good time.
Marnie
Apparently, Marnie is hell-bent to make all vampires pay, after the chaos in the cemetery she takes Eric back to Moon Goddess Emporium. Her plan is to take Eric to the tolerance gathering in Shreveport and wreak havoc. A particular goal on her mind is assassinating Bill Compton! Of course, her loyal band of fellow witches are not as enthused with the plans and attempt to defect which earns them a dire warning, do not leave or else! Or else what you never find out, a few who try to open the doors she placed a spell on receive a nasty burn for their trouble.
Sookie
After being shot in the cemetery apparently, Bill is able to escape from his captors and rush to her side, encouraging her to drink his blood. Of course, she finally does and sits up from her near death state to ask where Eric is and despite the frustration of Alcide Sookie presses the issue. At this point, this little exchange does not make a whole lot of sense. So Alcide is fed up… and we care why? It is not like he has been a central character to this point and he definitely is not in Sookie’s life so again… why does anyone care that he is done?
No recap of this week’s episode is complete without touching on her dream scenes. Now that she has had both Bill and Eric’s blood, her sexy dreams include both vampires. Can you say, “been done to death?” how many times do we have to see these little interludes after a blood exchange to understand it causes…feelings? We Get It!!
Lafayette
Possessed by some Cajun woman named Mavis, Lafayette breaks into the Bellfleur house taking Mikey and Andy’s gun. Apparently, in her lifetime she lived in Hoyt’s house, so she promptly kicks him out of the home at gunpoint. After a couple of tense moments with V addicted Andy fighting with Terry, gun shots and craziness Lafayette’s witch boyfriend comes into the picture and leads Mavis to understanding she is no longer alive nor is her child.
Final Thoughts
Well after a couple of good weeks we are back to dragging along. Storylines are not making sense or being dropped awkwardly. And don’t even get me started on the Debbie situation… she follows Alcide, scores some V and goes to Sookies, but to help? Perhaps next week will be better!
