True Blood Season Four Episode 8: Spellbound
True Blood Season Four: Spellbound

True Blood HBO is finally gaining some momentum, even though some important story lines seem to be lagging a bit you are at least left wishing there was more show at the end of the episode! This episode was good enough that the producers only left one single tiny teaser for next week; someone getting a little cocky are we? Regardless, this week worked on several levels.
Jessica
The burning question (yes, the pun was fully intended), from last week was how many vampires would be forced to meet the sun thanks to Antonia’s spell casting ability. Of particular note was Jessica’s mad dash for the front door after breaking her chains and killing a guard.
Thankfully, Jason Stackhouse had a heads up from Sookie and was headed full throttle for the Compton mansion. He tackles her at the last minute, forcing her back inside and out of the sun. Of course, the witches also cease their chanting in the nick of time as well. Otherwise, Jason might have been an empty sack of bones!
SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER!
Writers are seeking shock value again, which is what True Blood HBO is known for! In one shocking scene Jessica heads home to tell Hoyt, she want to move out which sends him into a tailspin. He argues with Jess, telling her he would rather be dead, he cannot live without her! His constant requests to die are met by a vicious Jessica who slams his head down on the counter and says…”die then!”. Right before Jess wakes up!!
She does break up with Hoyt this week, but instead of breaking down in tears, he becomes quite angry! Cursing vampires and throwing her out of the house. Her reception at Jason’s is not much better, since Hoyt is his best friend Jason has little choice but to rescind her invitation leaving her crying bloody tears outside.
Cajun Ghost and Mikey
All this time you have been led to believe the baby is Renee’s and is either being haunted by his dead serial killing father or is somehow evil. When the Cajun ghost woman comes into the picture, however it is hard to tell where the writers are going with the story. Until this week, apparently when she was alive she had an affair with a married white man, (looks to be sometime in the 20’s) and somehow her child winds up dead. The ghost is back for her baby and in pursuit of the… (Drumroll please…) Bellefleurs? What!
Perhaps she is only there, via Lafayette’s body to get the baby, since Terry and Arlene are staying there!
Eric and Sookie
Sookie has her hands full keeping Eric silvered in his hidey-hole. The typical Sookie story lines are somewhat lax this season, she barely uses her powers and has taken a back seat to the witches and vampire politics. Of course, fans of Eric and Sookie will be well satisfied with their scenes. This week book lovers will finally get the shower scene… well sort of. At least the gratuitous shots of Eric’s backside are plentiful. One little side note, if the writers are listening, the saccharin sweet demeanor of Eric is getting old!
Witches and Vampires
In a bid to finally end the spells King Bill discusses a meeting with Marnie. They agree to meet in the cemetery outside Bon Temps, alone! As if, either of them were going out in the middle of the night to meet without backup!
What results is a mini-war, which Charlain Harris fans may slightly recognize. Guns blazing, fog floating and fangs are bared as each side determines peace is a laughable concept. Who will survive? A brief synopsis of the results:
• Sookie takes a bullet and falls among the stones
• Bill commands Pam to leave Tara alone now and forever or face the true death
• Eric is controlled completely by Marnie
• Alcide rushes in among the mist to save Sookie (though his pack master has insisted all wolves stay out of the war and he promises Debbie he will not try to help Sookie)
• Debbi, in wolf form is dead on his heels
Preview for Next Week
Sookie barely has a pulse, and despite Bills best efforts she will not drink! Yep, that is it, nothing more! Tune in next Sunday…
